Our Thanksgiving Eve service will be at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 21. Included will be many favorite hymns centered on being thankful, including “Now Thank We All Our God,” “O Worship the King,” “O Bless the Lord, My Soul,” and “Savior, Again to Thy Dear Name We Raise.”
Not only will this service give time and place to be thankful to God in general, but a specific focus will be shaped by selected verses from Psalm 103.
My soul, bless the Lord; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. My soul, praise the Lord and do not forget all his benefits. For he forgives all your iniquity and heals all your diseases. From the pit, he redeems your life and, with grace and compassion, he crowns you.
Merciful and gracious is the Lord, slow to anger and rich in grace. For he will not always accuse us or be angry forever. Neither does He treat as our sins deserve or pay us according to our iniquities. As high as heaven is above the earth, so his mercy towers over all who honor him. As far as the east is from the west, so he removes our transgressions from us.
The Lord is like a compassionate father to his children, filled with compassion for his faithful followers. For he recognizes how we are made, remembering we are dust. From eternity to eternity, the Lord’s mercy is on those who fear him. For his righteousness reaches to the grandchildren of those who keep his covenant, who remember to carry out his commands.
The Lord established his throne in the heavens, and his royal power rules over all. Bless the Lord, you armies of angels, who do his bidding, obedient to his command. All you mighty warriors bless the Lord, his servants who do his will. Praise the Lord, all his works, everything in all his kingdom. My soul, bless the Lord!
