Former member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Donald John Zimmerman, died in his sleep on December 12, 2014. His interment and committal of the body will be at Pine Crest Cemetery in Lampe, Missouri on Thursday, Debember 18, 2014, at 1:00 PM. Members are invited to this short, but meaningful, funeral rite of the Church.
His funeral service was held on December 16, 2014 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale, Iowa. Don was a charter member of that congregation and moved back to Iowa after living in Kimberling City.
Don was born in 1925, the son of August and Rose Zimmerman. After serving our nation in the Navy during World War II, Don began his family and career as a businessman in Dundee, Illinois. After Peggy, Don’s wife for more than forty years, died, he married Vivian Hunsicker in 1994. They resided in Johnston, Iowa, enjoying a full life for the past twenty years.
Don is survived by his son, Tim (Maureen) Zimmerman; daughters: Kyle Ann (Steve) Kouzes and Susan (Andy) Harris; granddaughter, Nichola; and grandsons: Andrew and Dylan.
Don will also be missed by his immediate family as well as Vivian and her children: sons, Steven (Anne) Hunsicker and Rollin (Nancy) Hunsicker and daughters, Laura Wilke and Amy (Jay) Hunsicker.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Walter, Arthur and Edward; and a sister, Eleanor.
